Atlas owns 100% of Carmen Copper Corporation (CCC) which now has the operating rights over the Toledo Copper Complex (TCC). The TCC includes several underground mines, open pits and processing facilities to exploit the Carmen, Biga and DAS Lutopan orebodies of which Lutopan will be the first to be mined by Open Pit. |
 |
Under Atlas, TCC operated as one of the largest copper producers in Asia from 1955 until the suspension of all operations in 1994. |
 |
The final Feasibility Study on the rehabilitation of Carmen Copper Project was completed in August 2006 and was duly audited and validated by Behre Dolbear Australia Limited (BDA) in February 2007 the highlights of which were: |
| |
» |
Continuation of previous operations will characterize low development cost and low operating risks, |
| |
» |
Much of the needed infrastructure is already in place, |
| |
» |
Robust economics, |
| |
» |
Large ore reserve for startup at Carmen Copper Project: |
| |
|
- |
Underground: 132.6 million metric tons (MT) at 0.40% Cu (contained copper is 530 thousand metric tons). |
| |
|
- |
Open pit: 18.6 million metric tons at 0.32% Cu (Carmen and Lutopan). |
| |
» |
Aggregate resource: 874 million metric tons, |
| |
» |
All key permits in place, and |
| |
» |
Abundant high quality labor. |
 |
Atlas and CCC enjoy strong support from national and local governments. |
 |
Non-pioneer Board of Investments (BOI) incentives have been granted with prospect of upgrading to pioneer status. |
 |
CCC will become a mid-size copper producer: 175kt p.a. of concentrate containing 50kt per annum copper, initial production within 11 months of rehabilitation start. |
 |
Initial production is expected within 11 months from start of the rehabilitation project |
 |
TCC offers significant longer term upside: |
| |
» |
Potential for low cost access to nearby DAS Lift-2 orebody (65 million metric tons at 0.43% Cu), |
| |
» |
Highly prospective exploration targets identified, drilling scheduled to commence shortly, and |
| |
» |
Total TCC resource of 874 million metric tons with an average grade of 0.41% Cu which exceeds the total of past production from 1955 to 1994 of 667 million metric tons. |
