Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development Corporation
was incorporated in 1935. Atlas is listed on the Philippine Stock
Exchange (PSE) and was, until May 1995, listed on the American Stock
Exchange (AMEX).
Atlas is an integrated resource company whose primary
activities are in the copper, nickel mining and bulk water supply
sectors.
The Toledo copper mine commenced production in
1955 and over the next 30 years grew to become the third largest
copper producer in the world. It pioneered many block-cave mining
techniques. It was amongst the top industrial corporations in the
Philippines and became one of the country’s largest foreign exchange
earners for many years.
Among Atlas’ significant mining assets in the
Philippines are the Toledo Copper Mine in Cebu and the Berong Nickel
Project in Palawan. Atlas also owns a portfolio of mineral interests
nationwide which include advanced and greenfield copper, gold and
nickel targets.
In addition, Atlas owns non-mining assets in Cebu
which include significant land holdings, the Toledo-Cebu Bulk Water
and Reservoir Project as well as port and other facilities.
